On connait tous plus ou moins l'histoire de la ville de Detroit et de son héritage sur la musique moderne. Les années fastes industrielles, les émeutes raciales, la désertification du centre-ville par les classes moyennes, tous ces éléments ont forgé la réputation de celle qu'on appelait jadis la Motor City. Que ce soit dans l'univers du jazz, du blues mais surtout du mouvement soul/funk avec le label Motown, puis plus tard avec sa scène techno et bien sûr le rock'n'roll sous toutes ses formes, la ville du Michigan a engendré un nombre d'artistes influent.es importants.

Des Ramrods en 1960 à un titre de Shadow Show sorti l'an dernier, survol de près de 60 ans de musique rock'n'roll à Detroit avec ses légendes, des glorieux perdants et ses formations obscures, en prenant soin de manières subjective à s'arrêter aux frontières du hard-rock, qui y connu aussi son heure de gloire avec Alice Cooper et consorts.
